Overland Park, KS - The Neosho County Lady Panthers faced a tough road test Saturday afternoon, falling to undefeated Johnson County 95–53 to move to 17-10 overall and 7-3 in KJCCC play.
Despite the final score, the Panthers showed flashes of grit early and continued to compete against one of the top teams in the conference.
Neosho came out aggressive in the first quarter, jumping out to an early 4-0 lead and trailing by just three at the end of the period, 23-20.
The Panthers shot 40% from the field in the opening frame and battled on the glass, setting the tone with their energy and defensive effort.
Bauke Graulus led the way offensively with 16 points and five rebounds, attacking inside and stretching the floor from beyond the arc.
Chloe Parker provided a spark off the bench, knocking down three three-pointers on her way to 11 points.
Dagmara Kacprazak added six points, while the Panther bench contributed 39 total points in the contest.
Neosho continued to fight throughout the second half, working to generate offense at the free-throw line, where they shot 72.2% as a team.
The Panthers also pulled down 47 rebounds and never stopped competing, even as Johnson County's depth and outside shooting proved to be the difference.
Now, the Lady Panthers turn their attention to an important night back home.
Neosho returns to their home court on Wednesday, February 25, to take on Highland in the final home game of the regular season. It will be Sophomore Night, as the Lady Panthers recognize their sophomores following the women's game.
