CHANUTE, Kan. — The Neosho County men's basketball team put together a strong first-half effort but ultimately fell to Johnson County, 81–55, on January 28 at home in Chanute.
The Panthers went toe-to-toe with the Cavaliers early, keeping the game tight throughout the opening half. Neosho County showed grit and defensive intensity, trailing just 34–31 at halftime in what was a hard-fought contest.
Johnson County pulled away in the second half, capitalizing on offensive momentum to secure the road victory.
Several Panthers turned in notable performances.
Champ Powaukee led Neosho County with a strong all-around effort, finishing with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Raziel Taylor added 11 points and 3 assists, while
Cooper Weeks chipped in 11 points of his own. On the defensive end,
Jayce Cooper made his presence felt with 8 points and 4 steals, providing energy on both sides of the floor.
Neosho County will look to bounce back in their next contest as they head on the road to face Highland on January 31. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
