Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Battle #2 Johnson County, Fall 2-0

Chanute, KS - Last night, the Panthers faced off against a formidable foe — #2 nationally ranked Johnson County Community College — and came up just short in a 2‑0 loss. While the scoreboard shows a shutout, the margin doesn't tell the full story. Neosho played with heart, discipline, and never let up, staying in the fight until the final whistle.

From the opening whistle, Johnson County looked sharp. They applied pressure, looked to catch the Panthers in lapse of concentration. But credit to your Panthers: defensively the Panthers were organized, possessed the ball excellently with patience, disrupting several of Johnson's advances, and in the end only allowed just enough room for the two game deciding strikes. Offensively, Neosho had flashes of promising runs, chances created, but couldn't quite break through the solid Johnson County back line.

There were moments in the game when momentum shifted clearly in Neosho's favor with good defensive clearances, midfield battles won, and counterattacks that looked dangerous. The team showed resilience, didn't panic, and kept their composure even as Johnson pushed for more. Ultimately, the difference came down to a few decisive plays, and Johnson County made their opportunitites count.

Despite the loss, Neosho can walk off proud: they competed, they showed grit, and they didn't fold even when the pressure was constant. A close one, but in the end the #2 nation team was just a bit sharper.

Looking Ahead: Next Up, Southeast CC
