Chanute, KS - The Neosho County Men's and Women's Cross Country teams hosted their home Cross Country meets Friday, October 3rd, at Santa Fe Park here in Chanute. Was a warm and breezy night for the runners but absolutely beautiful for the spectators who came to watch. While challenging for the competitors the conditions didn't keep the Panthers from having some great performances. On the Women's side
Bethany Barger continues her strong freshman campaign with a 5th place finish in the women's race running 21:10 for the 5k course. The men had 3 placers in the top 10 at the competition,
Noah Laird (27:17),
Jaden Perry(28:14), and Oliver Cabana(28:35), who finished 3rd, 7th, and 8th respectively. The team cruised to the team title with a low score of 32 points.
"The stress of running a home meet makes it challenging when things don't go perfectly to feel good about the outcome. We had some struggles in the meet that I thought were really unfortunate so I had to take some time to reflect and realize that we hosted a great meet and that there was a lot of good things to build on for the team and to be proud of. We have had really good practices and I know the team is on the precipice of some great things pretty soon." Head XC/T&F Coach
Trey Bruton after the home meet competition.
