Panther Softball Sweeps Indy to Open Conference

Independence, KS - 

Game one: 

The Panthers took home a sweep in the conference opener over Independence! In game one, Logan Cates got the win in the circle for the Panthers only surrendering three hits and zero runs, with one walk and eight strikeouts. The bats were hot for the Panthers winning 10-0. Braxton Stainbrook got the Panthers on the board in the first inning with a single, scoring one run. Caitlyn Myers hit a sacrifice fly, scoring a run. Two runs were scored on eros, and Carsyn McCue came up and singled, scoring another run. The Panthers added three more in the top of the second on five hits. Addyson Easter hit a two run homerun to center field and then Emma West came up and singled, scoring two. The Panthers collected 11 hits in the game. McCue, Stainbrook, and Easter all collect two hits of their own. 


Game two: 

Gracie Turner took home the win in the circle for the Panthers in game two. She surrendered only two hits and zero runs in four innings. Eleanor Rieck threw in the fifth for the Panthers, allowing zero hits and striking out one. The Panthers got things going in the first with a double by Braxton Stainbook scoring one and Addyson Easter coming up and scoring one as well. The second inning got even hotter for the Panthers, scoring four more runs to extend the lead 6-0. Carsyn McCue singled, scoring one run and then Brinly Bancroft came up and hit a three run shot to left field. The third inning, the Panthers added seven to the board, taking the lead 13-0. Emma West, Annsleigh Morris, and Caitlyn Myers all contributed to scoring. Stainbrook came up in the top of the fifth and hit a solo shot, making the score 14-0. Bancroft was hot at the plate, hitting a double, a three run homerun, and a grandslam. The defense was just as hot, turning two double plays and allowing no errors on the day.
