Chanute, KS - On a perfect weather day in Chanute, the women's softball team did not disappoint. A late game homer and a dramatic extra innings thriller helped the Panthers to a sweep over Northern Oklahoma College - Tonkawa, and pushes the panthers to 3-1 on the season.
Game 1: vs. NOC Tonkawa
Neosho stole the lead late in the game in the 4-2 victory over NOC Tonkawa on Monday. Neosho was down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth when
Braxton Stainbrook homered on an 0-2 count, scoring three runs.
Lauren Fuller got the win in the circle, surrendering only two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out two and walking zero. Duin, Petric, Newcomb, Raile, and Stainbrook each managed one hit to lead Neosho.
Game 2: vs. NOC Tonkawa
A walk-off double propelled Neosho to a decisive, dramatic victory over NOC Tonkawa, 9-8 in eight innings. Neosho was down in the top of the eighth when
Riley Kennedy doubled on an 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Gracie Turner got the win in the circle, allowing 5 hits and one run while striking out one and walking zero. Neosho collected 14 hits on the day. Easter, Kennedy, Petric, and Stainbrook each had multiple hits for Neosho.
Addyson Easter led Neosho by going 3-for-4 on the day.
