Chanute, KS- The Panthers got a big win at home that saw their scoring record broken in the process. In a game where the Panthers wanted to set the tone early, and quickly, it ended up being a record-setting performance. The Lady Panthers scored 129 points in a game against Kansas Wesleyan and Bethel last season, they broke that record tonight by 8 points.
The Panther women caused the Swedes to commit 47 turnovers and secured 30 steals. The Lady Panthers exerted complete control over the rebounding battle, surpassing the Swedes by a significant margin of 75-46.
7 Panthers scored in double figures in the win against Bethany, 137-41. 94 of those 137 points came from the bench. Freshman
Jiyani Thompson led all scorers with 23 points in just 14 minutes of play, shooting 5-8 from behind the arc. Sophomore
Baylee Davis added 14 points.
DeMia Jackson and
Natalie Mesa each chipped in 13 points. Mesa also had 6 steals.
Myah Coleman added 10 points.
Chesleigh Apala ended the night with a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 boards.
Jahniya Brown also found herself a double-double chipping in 11 points and 11 boards.
The Panthers will be home again tomorrow night, November 28th where they will take on Cottey College. Tip-Off is set for 5:30 PM.
