This week the Panthers took to the road for their first conference games away from Panther Gymnasium. The week began with a trip to Highland Community College to face off against a Scottie team that is receiving votes in the national polls. The Panthers couldn't ever find a rhythm that would help them combat the tenacity of the Highland ladies. On the offense end of the floor the Panther struggles in the fourth quarter proved costly. The Panthers shot only 14% from the floor during that period. 'Ultimately, if we struggle to put the ball in the hoop late it will not give us a chance to be where we need to be to secure a road win.' Coach Davis states. Leading the Panthers versus Highland was
Briona Jensen who scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Chantoryia Rivers had another impressive evening on the glass securing 8 rebounds.
The second game of the week had the Lady Panthers traveling to Kansas City, Kansas to take on the Blue Devils. The game was a back and forth battle from the tip. The Panthers won the first and fourth quarters, the Panthers let KCK get away from them in the second quarter, losing that period by 11 points. 'This was a good test of our toughness and determination. We were in a big hole the last couple minutes of the game but battled back to within 6 points.' Coach Davis adds 'We have to understand that the game is a 40 minute contest and we have to battle every second of the game to be successful.'
Sarah Hunt and
Im'Unique White both finished with 22 points in 22 minutes of play.
Briona Jensen finished the game with 11 rebounds and countless tips and deflections.
