Offensive Onslaught Sends Labette Home Early
Ten hits and four home runs push a run-rule victory over the #9 ranked Labette Community College Cardinals. The offense came out determined to put some runs on the board, and they did just that. Kirsten Birdwell was clutch at the plate going 2-3 with two home runs and four RBI's. Neosho notched seven runs in the fifth inning. The Panthers' big bats were led by Birdwell, Zito, and Fuller, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs, with Birdwell, Zito, and Fuller all sending balls over the fence. Hannah Duin and Birdwell each had multiple hits for the Panthers. The Panthers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Lydia Brown had the most chances in the field with five chances. Freshman, Lauren Fuller earned the victory on the rubber for the Panthers. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and walking zero.
Neosho Wins Game Two to Sweep the Cardinals
Panthers stole the lead late in the game in a 10-9 victory over Labette Community College for game two. The game was tied at five with the Panthers batting in the bottom of the fifth, when Journee Zito singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The Panthers had 11 total hits in the game. Duin, Zito, Katie Boline, and Kirsten Birdwell all had multiple hits for the Panthers, with Duin sending one out of the park in the third. Daniels, Marchoud, and Gazaway each had a hit as well. Cassidy Paulson was the winning pitcher for the Panthers. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on eight hits over six and a third innings, striking out six and walking one. Ravin Moore threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Moore recorded the last two outs to earn the save for the Panthers. Neosho played clean on defense with no errors committed in the field.
