CONCORDIA, KS – Saturday afternoon the Panthers would come out firing on all cylinders knocking down a season-high 19 threes on the Cloud County Community College men's basketball. The Panthers would win the road game 94-76, inside of Arley Bryant Gymnasium on the campus of Cloud County Community College. The win completes the sweep of the T-Birds after previously taking down Cloud 84-70 , in Chanute back on March 6th.
The Panthers would light up the scoreboard from downtown, but it was the 19 assists that stood out the most to Coach Jeremy Coombs.
"I thought the guys had a focus and edge about them that I hadn't seen in a while." But I thought we played as a team and made the extra pass several times that helped us shoot such a high percentage from three." -Head Coach Jeremy Coombs
The Panthers would jump out to an 11-0 start, but the T-birds did not go away cutting the Panthers lead to just 6 after the timeout by Cloud. The Panthers would respond by knocking down several more threes and would hold on to a 50-39 lead after twenty minutes of play.
Cloud County would come out of halftime running, scoring the first 4 points, but the Panthers weren't done as they would use a 10-0 run to lead the T-birds 63-44. Neosho would extend that lead at the media time out leading the T-birds by 22 points (72-50).
Following the media timeout, the Panthers offense would continue to explode knocking down three after three, and would take their largest lead of the night with 5:14 remaining to lead Cloud by 26 points. Coach Jeremy Coombs would then clear the bench getting every Panther suited up into action. The Panthers would complete the sweep of the T-birds by a score of 94-76.
The Panthers were led by freshman Cougar Downing who scored 24 points knocking down 6 of 8 from three-point land. Daniel Titus would finish with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Magic Reliford went for a cool 14 on 4 of 8 from three, while Tremaine Chesley finished with 13 points.
