Pratt, Ks.- Neosho took care of business Wednesday in the first round of Region VI playoffs knocking off the #8 seeded Pratt Beavers, 84-64. This win for the Panthers and JJ Davis will be the first time since 1996-1997 that the Neosho women's basketball team has advanced to the Quarterfinals.
The Panthers were scorching hot from the field in the first quarter canning 7-for-14 three-pointers. Tough defense by the Panthers held Pratt to just 19% shooting from the field and forced Pratt into 17 turnovers before heading to the locker room for halftime, Panthers leading 42-33.
Neosho struggled shooting in the third but was able to keep their lead throughout the quarter despite getting into foul trouble and sending Pratt to the charity stripe where they went 3-for-10. Neosho's lead was now at 10 to start the fourth quarter, 60-50. The final quarter looked much like the first for Neosho, they were on fire, Morgan Bolen went 3-3 from beyond the arc. As a team, Neosho shot 53.8% from the field in the last 10 minutes.
Jessica Jones led all scorers with 29 points connecting on 5-of-14 three-point attempts and going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Chrissy Brown's performance landed her fifteenth double-double for the season on 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists. Morgan Bolen was one-point shy from a double-double as she knocked down 9 points and 10 rebounds. Briona Jensen chipped in 9 points while Haley Stiger and Kayley Woodruff each had 8.
