Chanute, Ks – Neosho women's basketball fall to the Butler Grizzlies 69-76. The Panthers came out firing and taking the lead to end the first quarter, 20-12. Second quarter much like the first and Neosho continued their hot shooting streak and went into halftime with an 11-point lead, 40-29
Neosho shot 43% from the floor and 38% from behind the arc in the first half while Butler couldn't find their rhythm, only shooting 1-for-8 from behind the arc and shooting 34% from the floor in the first half.
The tables were turned to start the second half as Butler would come out feeding the ball inside while Neosho's hot shooting went cold. The Grizzlies outscored the Panthers 25-15 in the third quarter closing the 11-point deficit and tied the game, 55-55.
The Panthers still cold to start the fourth, only scoring 14 points and allowed Butler to score 21.
Sophomore Jessica Jones lead the Panthers in scoring with 19 points and 3 steals. Morgan Bolen had 16 points and 4 assists. Briona Jensen chipped in 9 points off the bench. Sophomore Hayley Stiger added 8 points, 3 steals and 7 rebounds. Chrissy Brown finished the night with 9 points, 6 assists and 7 rebounds.
One of the three games remaining in the regular season for Neosho is on the road this Saturday, February 15th in Coffeyville. The Panthers will host Cloud County Wednesday, February 19th at 5:30 p.m. Last home game of the season will be Sophomore Night, February 22nd in a conference showdown against Allen County.
