Concordia, KS. - The Neosho women's basketball team found themselves mired in a shooting slump for the first quarter Wednesday. Cloud County shot 50% from the field and gained an 18-point lead to start the second quarter. Neosho began to get hot with about 4 minutes left in the first half, knocking down the next seven points and got within 6. A fast break for Cloud and a made layup and free throw put the T-Brids up 9 to end the half.
To start the second half Neosho went on a 12-0 run and took their first lead of the game, 43-42. There were 6 lead changes in the third quarter. Neosho held on to their one-point lead entering into the fourth and throughout the final minutes of the game. Neosho forced Cloud into 17 turnovers converting those into 17 points and 20 fast breakpoints.
Neosho had three Panthers score in double figures. Jessica Jones lead all scorers with 29 points. Hayley Stiger threw in 24 points, shooting 4-6 from beyond the arc and pulling down 8 rebounds. Chrissy Brown earned herself another double-double and just 2 rebounds away from a triple-double as she had 18 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. Sophomore Ashley Dillinger chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.
The Panthers return to action Saturday, February 1st as they travel to Iola, Ks to take on their rival Allen County. Tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
