Colby, Ks. - A rough first quarter proved costly for the Neosho women's basketball team in an 88-55 loss to the Colby Trojans.
The Neosho frontcourt duo of Chrissy Brown and Morgen Bolen combined for 26 points, but the Panthers struggled to find offense elsewhere, shooting just 13-for-56 from the field (23.2 percent), including 6-for-24 from the 3-point line.
Most of the damage came in the first quarter in which the Panthers scored only eight points, with the Trojans 48-23 lead into the break.
Chrissy Brown led the Panthers with 17 points. Morgan Bolen had 9 points. Ashley Dillinger finished with 8 points, finishing the game shooting 2-for4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
With the loss, the Panthers drop to 6-11 on the season and 1-9 in conference play. Neosho will travel to El Dorado to face Butler on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
