In the meantime, the Cardinals carved out a ten-point lead to start the game. Once the Panthers settled down, the damage was already done trailing the cardinals 32 - 11 after the first quarter. the Panthers won the second and fourth quarters. The second unit for the Panthers seemed to calm the nerves and get the Panthers into their offense. The defensive struggles continue to haunt the Panthers in the season opener. The Panthers went on a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to try to mount a comeback, but the earlier damage was too big.
"Things may have been different if we could have hit a couple 3's in that first quarter," Davis said. "But we didn't." "We have to learn how to score when we can't make shots from the 3-point line"

Chrissy Brown paced the Panthers with 21 points but missed 14 of her 21 shots. She was 7-of-21 from the field.
