Chanute, KS – All 11 Panthers who competed in Friday night's game versus the University of Saint Mary's JV scored, led by freshman guard
Jonathan Breeland Jr. with 21 point, while four other players scored double figures in a game the Panthers won by a 101-63.
That result marked the second time the Panthers scored 100 or more points in a game this season. The Panthers would start off the game a little slow as the sharp shooting Spires would strike first on a three pointer from Zack Thiel who ended up leading the Spires with 17 points, knocking down 5 of 8 from long range.
But the Panthers would go on a 12-0 run pulling away from the Spires. The Panthers would head into the locker room with a 58-31 lead.
"I though we did a nice job containing their guards and finding the shooters." Coach Jeremy Coombs said. "I also thought we took great shots allowing us to score 58 first half points."
This would be the third game in four days for the Panthers but that didn't slow them down in the second half. The Panthers would open the last 20 minutes on a 15-4 run making it a 72-35 ball game. Neosho would finish the game shooting 61.8% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range and 68.8% from the free-throw line.
"I though the energy the guys played with on the defensive end was the difference between Tuesday's and Friday's game," said Coombs "All five guys were engaged defensively and that created offense for us."
Panthers will travel to West Plains Missouri this Friday and Saturday for the Grizzly Classic. The Panthers will take on Three Rivers Community College at 5:00 pm Friday evening and the MSU-West Plains Saturday at 7:00 pm.
