Coffeyville, KS – Saturday the Panthers headed south to take on Coffeyville the #5 team in the country. The Ravens would come out on fire and would dominate the first half scoring 67 points to the Panthers 31 points.
"I think it was Dennis Green that said they are who we thought they were!" said Head Coach
Jeremy Coombs "Well Coffeyville was every bit what we thought they were and then some."
Coffeyville would strike first and never gave the lead back. In the first half Coffeyville shot 77% from the field and 60% from three while the Panthers shot 42% from the field and 30% from three. The Panthers would find themselves down 67-31 at the midway point.
"We knew they were a great team but they were hitting on all cylinders in the first." Said Coombs "They hit several shots that I thought were well contested and there just isn't much you can do about that."
The second half would look a little better for the Panthers as they connected on 6 three balls and finished the game shooting 34% from three and 47.3% from the field. The Ravens would only outscore the Panthers by 4 points in the second half. But the first half damage was enough to do away with the Panthers as they lost the game 117-77.
"The second half was obviously much better but the game is 40 minutes and we must find a way to put a full game together." Coombs Said "I was proud that we battled in the second half and didn't just totally give up."
Panthers return home Wednesday and play host to a hot Cloud County team who has won their last two games. Tip is set for 7:30 pm.
