Arkansas City - The Panther women of Neosho County (7-24 overall, 4-22 Jayhawk) lost their final game of the 2017 - 2018 season tonight to the Cowley Tigers (25-6 overall, 26-5 Jayhawk) in the first round of Region VI playoffs. Despite the tough match-up, the women lost with a final score of 53-71.

After poor shooting in the first quarter, shooting 18% from the field, the Panthers entered the second nearly doubling their percentage to 33%. Heading into the half, Panthers were trailing 18-34.

Coming out of the locker room on fire, Sophomore
Beth Hawkins lit it up going 4-4 from behind the arc, helping the Panthers put up a team total of twenty points on the scoreboard in the third quarter; outscoring the Tigers 20-15 and cutting their lead to 11.

The fourth and final quarter, the Tigers took control of the game, outscoring the Panthers 22-15. Cowley's early lead secured their win on the night.

Despite the loss, Sophomore
Beth Hawkins lead her team in scoring, knocking down 6-10 three's she finishes her career with 18 points and 3 steals on the night. De'Quandra Lyles chipped in 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. On the defensive end, Freshman Tricia Wattman grabbed an impressive seven rebounds and Calea Augustin ripped down 4.
