The Neosho County Community College Panthers hosted the Cloud County Thunderbirds on Saturday afternoon. A strong first half from the visitors saw the Thunderbirds take a 45-38 halftime lead. A slow third quarter that saw the Panthers only score twelve points allowed Cloud to extend their lead to 64-50. The Panthers raced back in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead all the way down to 6 with under five minutes to go in the game. They Panthers had to foul to try to get extra possessions, but with the Thunderbirds making 74% of their free throws for the day, it was all for naught. Even the incredible 13 for 27 shooting on three pointers was not enough for the Panthers to overcome the deficit on this day.
Â
The Panthers were led in scoring by
Beth Hawkins who had 18 points including 6 three pointers made. Calea Augustin followed with 16 points and 4 three pointers.
Alexis Casher and Alexis Boyd each added 7 points.
