Chanute, KS - The Neosho County women's basketball team (4-10, 1-3 Jayhawk) fell short to Barton (9-2, 3-1 Jayhawk) in their last home game before Christmas break Monday night. Offensive struggles in the second quarter led to the eventual 105-97 loss to the Cougars.
The Panthers lead the Cougars at the end of the first quarter 23-22. Neosho County's shooting woes showed up in the second half, only shooting 28% from the field which allowed Barton to take the lead ending the first half 52-45. The Panthers came out hot to start the third
with a 10-0 run and cut the Cougars lead to 6, closing the third quarter 71-77.
Freshman
Chrissy Brown led the Panthers in scoring with 24 points followed by Redshirt Freshman Kelcey
Hinz with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Sophomore
Calea Augustin added 11 points. Sophomore
Alexis Casher just missed another double-double having 8 points and team high 10 boards.
The Panthers will be back in action January 2 as they travel to Goodland Kansas to take on the Mavericks of Northwest Tech at 1:00 pm.
