Parsons, KS - The Neosho Panther wrestling team opened their dual season in Parsons, KS last night against Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Labette Community College. The Panthers started out slow, but picked up a sloppy win against Oklahoma Wesleyan. However, Neosho looked better the second dual of the night against the Labette Cardinals, who are currently ranked #17 in the nation. The Cardinals came out hard and picked up wins at the first four weight classes. However, Neosho rallied back to win 5 straight matches, and picked up enough bonus points to secure the team victory.
Neosho's freshman class looked great in their dual debut.
Dallas Boone (fr) from Valley Center High School was the standout performer of the night, he won by fall in both of his matches at 157 lbs. Bailey McBride also picked up a big win in the 165lb match which helped swing the momentum toward the Panthers. Finally,
Marco Soto (fr) 197 lb gutted out a tough match after tweaking his shoulder in the first period of the bout. Neosho also picked up wins from veterans
Elias Manzanares and
Brayden Collins.
Neosho wrestling is back in action Tuesday (Nov 13
th) at 7:00 pm in Panther Gymnasium. They will host returning national champions and currently #1 ranked NEO A&M Norsemen.
