Concordia, KS- The Panthers traveled to Concordia, Kansas on Saturday to take on the Cloud County Community College Thunderbirds. Both teams were looking to rebound from losses on Wednesday night to top three teams in the Jayhawk Conference, (Hutch and Coffeyville). In the first two quarters the Panthers kept things close only trailing by four points. The Thunderbirds in the second quarter were able to push their advantage to 11 points going into the half. Both teams shot poorly from behind the arc, going a combined 3 for 18 from three point land. It was the Thunderbirds ability to get to the charity strip that helped push their lead to 11 points. Cloud shot 10-14 from the free throw line, while the Panthers only shot five total rebounds converting on two of them. In the third quarter, the Thunderbirds came out on a hot streak. Kaley Broeckelman hit three 3 pointers early to extend the T-birds lead. The Panthers allowed Cloud to score 24 points in the third quarter, which has been an issue for the Panthers all season long. In the final quarter of play, the Panthers were able to win the quarter 18 to 15, but it was too late, as the Thunderbirds big third quarter was enough to push them past the Panthers 72-56.
