Coming off a home victory against Colby last Saturday the Panthers looked to continue a strong push into the playoffs with only 3 regular season conference games remaining. On Wednesday the Panther traveled to Garden City to take on the Busters. In their last match up it took overtime to decide the winner with the Panthers coming out of the battle with a 10 point victory. In that game it would be the Panthers free throw shooting that would help them prevail. In Wednesday's game it was very different. The Panthers struggled shooting period. The Panthers were 33% from the floor, 22% from 3, and 33% from the free throw line in the first half. Despite the poor shooting the Panthers still only found themselves down 1 at the half. Coming out of the break, the Panthers continued to struggle in the third quarter as they have most of the season. The Panthers gave up 22 points in the third quarter while only scoring 12 points themselves. Although their shoot improved from the field in the second half, the Busters' shooting did as well. The Busters were able to shoot 60% from the floor in the second half. This would prove to be the difference. The Panthers would put together a late run with about 3 minutes to go but it wouldn't be enough as they fell to the Busters 76-63.
The Panthers had three players in double figures,
Brooke Neal (15),
Jhanai Felix (10), and
Lindsey Plank (10).
The Panthers final home game of the season is Saturday when they host Butler. Tip for that game is 5:30pm with Sophomore night activities taking place before the opening tip.Â
