Chanute, KS- On Wednesday night the Panthers faced 5
th ranked Seward County for the second time this season. The Saints three-point shooting proved to be too much for the Panthers, who lost 86-57. Neosho started out the night slow, only shooting 19% from the field in the first half, and only making 2 of 12 from the three point line. Poor shooting from the Panthers and the Saints shooting 75% from three-point range in the first half would lead to a 52-26 halftime deficit. Neosho did not go down without a fight. The Panthers made a 3
rd quarter push, where they outscored the #5 Saints 19-14. However, the Saints would shoot 60% from the field and 66% from the three-point line in the 4
th quarter to close out the game, outscoring the Panther 24-14 to end the game.
The Panthers had four players score in double figures, which was a bright spot on the night. Neosho was lead by Sophomore
Bianca Valderrama, who finished the game with a double-double, 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomores
Brooke Neal and
Ki'Asha Harris both added 10 points apiece, along with freshman
Beth Hawkins who also added 10 points.
The Panthers will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, as they host the Trojans of Colby at 4 pm.
