The last time the Panthers took on the Red Devils, it was a
Kelsie Kerns three pointer that forced overtime. In that game, in Iola, the Red Devils were able to pull off a win on their home floor. The Panthers were looking to do the same thing when they hosted Allen on Saturday. Both teams struggled shooting the ball in the first half. The Panthers shot 28 percent from the field to the Red Devils 34 percent. Despite both teams' poor shooting, they managed to score 30 and 29 points in the first half, with the Panthers coming up short at the half. The second half would show more of the same as both teams would continue to shoot around 25 percent from the floor. The Panthers would find themselves trailing 44-39 at the start of the 4
th quarter. The fourth quarter was a back and forth affair with the lead changing several times. The Panthers would call a timeout and advance the ball with 8 seconds left. Out of the timeout, the Panthers inbound the ball to
Jhanai Felix, who finds
Brooke Neal in the corner. Neal heavily guarded kicks it back to Felix, who takes a deep three that touches nothing but the bottom of the net with 3 seconds left on the clock. The Red Devils, who were out of time outs, try to quickly kick it in and throw up a final shot that falls short leading to a 60-59 Panther victory.
Jhanai Felix led the Panthers with 15 points on 3-5 shooting from the three point line, including the game winner.
Ki'Asha Harris tallies yet another double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds.
Bianca Valderrama also pulled down 17 rebounds and added 7 points.
The Panthers will be at home again Wednesday night as they host the Pirates of Independence at 5:30 pm.
