Park City, KS - Everyone always says it's hard to beat a team 3 times, especially a good team. The #16th ranked Panthers would do just that. They would beat the Coffeyville Red Ravens by a score of 72-71 for the 3rd time this year. The 3rd game in the Region VI Men's Basketball Tournament would not be one that would disappoint fans. The first half would be close the whole time. The Panthers would take a 7 point lead early but a couple quick Red Raven 3 pointers would close the gap. It would be back and forth the rest of the first half with the Red Ravens taking a 2 point lead into halftime.
Â
The second half would start out the same way. No team would pull away until just after the media timeout. Coffeyville would take an 11 point advantage with 8:17 left to go in the game. The Panthers would keep playing their game and attack the interior defense of the Red Ravens. After a few turnovers that led to scores against the Neosho pressure, Coffeyville would call a timeout leading by 1 with about 1 minute left. The Red Ravens would again turn the ball over and
Freddie McSwain would score a layup to go up 1. Neither teams would score a field goal in the final 50 seconds of the game. Neosho County would secure the victory.
Marc Moon led all scorers with 21 points,
Freddie McSwain would score 18, and
Richard Granberry would score 14.
