Monday night the Panthers played host to the Allen Red Devils. The Panthers came out focused in the first quarter taking an early 11 point lead by attacking the Allen defense and getting to the free throw line. The Red Devil came out in the second quarter with a different attitude and with the help of Haley Wilson's 3 point shot were able to erase the Panthers lead and take a 4 point cushion into halftime. Coming out of the break the Panthers were more focused after letting their early lead slip away. The Panthers outscored the Red Devils 27 to 14 in the 3
rd quarter and regained the lead. The Panthers' pressure defense led to several steals and easy baskets for
Brooke Neal and
Kascity Martin. The 4
th quarter was more of the same on the defensive end but Allen was able to make a run, cutting into the Panthers 22 point lead. But there just wasn't enough gas left in the tank for the Red Devils as the Panthers remained in control and win by a final score of 77-62. 5 Panthers ended up in double figures including
Bianca Valderrama who added 12 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. The Panthers will look to earn another Jayhawk Conference victory on Wednesday as they travel to Pratt to take on the Beavers at 5:30pm.Â
