Liberal KS – The Panthers made a late comeback to defeat Seward County by a score of 72-68 Saturday night. The game was back and forth throughout the first half with big runs made by both teams. The Panthers led 37-32 at the break, but the Saints would make another run early in the second half and jump out to a 7 point lead at the ten minute mark. After a
Braden Larcom three-pointer followed by an
Austin Downing layup with a foul, the Panthers closed the gap and only trailed the Saints by one point. The game remain close the rest of the way. Neosho put together a few stops late in the game, which lead to a two point lead with 50 seconds remaining. A long three-pointer missed by Seward, followed by two free throws made by Austin Dowing closed out the game for the Panthers.
Austin Downing would lead the Panthers with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
The Panthers will head home for Christmas break, but will return to action on January 4
th when they travel to Colby.
