Panthers Fall in OT to Allen 77-73

On Wednesday night the rivalry resumed as the Panthers traveled to Iola to take on the Red Devils. The rivalry between these two teams did not disappoint on Wednesday as it came down to the wire and took an overtime session to determine the winner. Both the Panthers and Red Devils would push leads to as much as 10 for their teams at one point or another in the game, but the other would battle back and keep the game close.  Panther Sophomore Ki'Asha Harris had a career night, scoring at will and snatching every rebound that she could get her hands on. Despite the sophomore's efforts the Panthers found themselves down 3 with 24 seconds remaining. The Panthers moved the ball around and were able to get an open look for Freshman Kelsie Kerns. Kerns drained the 3 point basket to tie the game with 8 seconds left. Allen would inbound the ball and turn it back over to the Panthers with 4.5 seconds left in regulation. The Panthers inbounded to Harris how was unable to get a shot off in time, sending the game into overtime tied at 67. In the extra period the Panthers would battle to exchange leads with Allen, but found themselves in a situation where they had to foul to stop the clock and try to gain possession. The Red Devils would hit their free throws pushing their lead to 4. The Panthers were unable to battle back and fell 77-73. Ki'Asha Harris's career night ended with 33 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman center Don'tajah Jones finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds. The Panthers are back in action on Friday as they travel to Broken Arrow, OK to take on Rhema Bible and Saturday they travel to Independence to resume Jayhawk Conference play.
