Chanute, KS – The Neosho County Panthers win another close game and add to the win streak. The Panthers now move to 5-2 and have won 5 straight conference games. The cougars came to town leading the conference at 5-0. A back and forth contest all game, with 12 lead changes and 13 ties, the Panthers free throw shooting would again come up big late. The largest lead of the game would go to the Cougars in the first half where they led 22-16.
Marc Moon would lead all scorers with 19 points.
Neosho would be down 3 points heading into halftime after a Barton County 9-0 run and the game would stay close throughout.
Marc Moon would get fouled on a layup attempt off of a Cougar turnover and have to leave the game with an injury.
Rashon Griggs would be the replacement shooter and would go 1-2 from the line to take a 1 point lead with 28 seconds left. The Panthers would get crucial stops late and
Tyson Downing would make 2 more free throws with 1.4 seconds left to clinch the game. The long 3 point attempt at the buzzer for Barton County would miss wide right.
Pratt Community College will be traveling to Chanute on Wednesday January 13. The Beavers are 4-2 in conference play.
