CHANUTE, Kan. – Neosho Athletic Director
Mike Saddler announced the hiring Thursday of
Shareese Hicks as the school's next head track and field coach . Hicks spent the past season as an assistant at Neosho working primarily with the team's sprinters.
A standout sprinter in college Hicks set numerous school records while running track at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. While running for the 49ers she set nearly every sprint record, many of which still stand today. A four time All-American, Hicks also set multiple conference records during her time at Charlotte.
Hicks would go on to run professionally after graduating with a degree in Mass Media Communications. Her most notable season was in 2008 when she claimed a USA Indoor Championship in the 400m as well as a World Indoor Bronze Medal in the 400m.
While competing professionally, Hicks got her start coaching as a volunteer at her alma mater before spending two seasons at Bethune Cookman University. After two seasons as an assistant at a pair of high schools, Hicks made the move to Chanute for the 2014-15 season.
