The Neosho County Community College softball bounced back two win game two over Connors State College after dropping game one in Chanute Sunday.
Neosho won the second 10-7 and dropped game one 4-1.
The Panther grabbed a 1-0 lead early in game one in the bottom of the second with a Meaghan Thompson home run. Connors State answered with a run in the top of the fourth before stringing together three runs in the top of the sixth to take control.
Neosho pitcher Meaghan Thompson pitched a complete game but got the loss falling to 8-7 on the season. Through seven innings, Thompson allowed three earned runs, struck out six and walked 11.
In game two the Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the first and four in the bottom of the secoond before holdng off a late inning surge from Connors State.
In the top of the second Connors State scored two. In the top of the third Connors State scored one. Neosho scored two more in the bottom of the fifth, before Connors State scored two points in the sixth and seventh.
Neosho pitcher Lexie Heiniger earned the victory on the mound and improves to 5-2. In her complete game win, Heiniger allowed six earned runs and stuck out four. Anna Crawford knocked in a solo homerun. Amanda Rodriguez finsihed with three RBIs. Tiara Ewy, Taylor Bolden had two RBIs a piece. Ewy scored three runs. Nia Maxwell had an RBi on a triple and a run scored. Taylor Pence scored a run.
Neosho (7-2 KJCCC East, 13-14 overall) hosts Allen (3-5, 10-13) today for a Region VI and Jayhawk East Conference match up.
