CHANUTE, Kan. – Neosho split a pair of games with Cloud County and swept Brown Mackie over the weekend to even their Jayhawk Conference record at 2-2 while they improved to 4-2 in Region VI play.

The Panthers kicked off the home stand with a 4-1 win over Cloud behind a stellar outing from Meghan Thompson in the circle. Thompson tossed 7.0 innings while allowing just 4 hits and 1 run. She walked one and struck out six Thunderbirds to pick up her second win of the season.

Tiara Ewy and
Karolyna Gomez powered the Neosho offense as they combined to drive in all four runs.
Taylor Pence was 2 for 3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored as well.

The Neosho offense struggled in the game two as they mustered just three hits in a 5-0 loss. The Thunderbirds got a run in the first and added another in the third to lead 2-0.
Lexie Heiniger worked out of trouble throughout most of the game as she kept the Panthers in striking distance but the offense never could get going.

Cloud finally broke through on Heiniger in the top of the seventh when they plated three runs to put the game out of reach.

Saturday the offense came to life early in often as the Panthers cruised to an 8-0 win in six innings. Neosho plated a run in the first and three more in the second to lead 4-0. They would add two more in the fourth and sixth for the run rule victory.

Thompson earned her second win in as many days while also tossing her first career shutout. She allowed just three hits in 6.0 innings of work while striking out 5.

The Panthers pounded out 15 hits in the win led by
Tia Parker and
Jozie Garner who collected three each.
Karolyna Gomez continued to be a run producer for the Panthers as she drove in three runs. Neosho also swiped a season high four stolen bases in the win.

Neosho would jump out to an early lead in game two with single runs in the each of the first three innings.
Amanda Rodriguez pitched 3.0 scoreless innings to earn her first win of the season.

The Lions would push their first run of the game across in the fourth inning and added another in the fifth to cut the Neosho lead to 3-2. The Panthers responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 6-2.

Thompson came out of the pen for the Panthers and tossed two scoreless innings of relief to secure the win.

The Panthers will continue their stretch of home games Tuesday when they host Coffeyville (6-10, 3-3) at 2:00pm before they head out for a eight straight games away from Chanute.
