Box Score The Panther Women's Basketball team took on Dodge City in their home conference opener on Wednesday night. The Panthers were looking to rebound after having their opportunities to win at Hutchinson on Monday night and just fell short. Dodge City brought a 9-0 record in to Wednesday night's game but that wasn't on the Panthers mind. They came out and took and early 10 point lead. Dodge City then fired back from beyond the arc, the Conqs Alexus Johnson finished the first quarter 2-4 from 3 point range and gave Dodge the lead at the end of the first 23 to 20. The second quarter was more of the same from the Conqs, Antania Newton shot a perfect 5-5 from 3 in the first half. The Panthers continued to make pushes to cut into the Dodge City lead/ Makayla Bell and Brooke Neal lead the attack for the Panthers. Bell attacking the paint was able to get to the free throw line while Neal used her midrange game to put points on the board for the Panthers. The Conqs stayed hot from behind the arc and a few late quarter 3's help them take the lead into the half 42-33. The third quarter was more of the same from the Conqs but the Panthers made a push in the 3^rd quarter to cut what was a 19 point lead to 11 by the end of quarter. The Conqs continued their strong play into the fourth quarter and the Panthers weren't able to get anything going to cut into the Dodge City lead. Three Panthers, Kascity Martin (12) Makayla Bell (14) and Ki'Asha Harris, scored in double figures but it wasn't enough to overcome the Conqs 3 point shooting as the Panthers fell to Dodge City 91-69. The Panthers host Colby Saturday at 2pm, looking to earn their first conference win of the young season.
