Box Score 2 The Panthers basketball season is off and running and the women are off to a 2-0 start. As the season starts you might notice some changes to the format of the women's game. Instead of two twenty minute halves the women now play four ten minute quarters. On November 1
st the Panthers traveled to Lexington, MO to take on Wentworth Military College. The Panthers came out, took an early lead and never looked back. With big games from redshirt freshman
Kascity Martin (16 points) and freshman
Ki'Asha Harris (17 points 5 rebounds) the Panthers were able to finish off the Red Dragons with a final score of 74-33. After two days rest, the Panthers hosted Ottawa University JV for their home opener. Â With a large home crowd the Panthers started off slow but, soon took a commanding lead of 18 points early in the first half. The braves chipped the lead down to 16 at halftime by shooting 60 percent from the 3 point line. Early in the third quarter the Panthers pushed the lead to 23 points. The Braves would not go away and mounted a comeback behind the strong play of forward Jessica King. King put up 18 points and grabbed 5 rebounds but it wasn't enough. The Panthers pressure defense and the lead they built were too much to overcome as the Panthers secured the win 60-52. Sophomore
Makayla Bell led the team in scoring with 14 points, while adding 7 rebounds. Freshman
Ki'Asha Harris led the team in rebounding by pulling down 12 boards. The Panthers will travel to Broken Arrow, OK to take on Rhema Bible College on Saturday at 5:30pm.Â
