Panther Wrestling Drops Close One to Labette

Labette wins a 24-24 tie via tiebreaker

Last night's dual finished in a 24-24 tie with Labette getting the win on the tie breaker by the third criteria of total match points scored 24-22.  The Panthers lineup was depleted by injuries and sickness resulting in three open weights ultimately giving Labette 18 points.  However, the Panther's came up with five wins out of seven matches wrestled with three being by way of pins culminating with the 24-24 team score.  "Both teams threw lineups together tonight in one way, shape, or form.  But we spotted them 18 points so we knew to have any kind of chance we needed bonus points and sticks.  That's pressure and our guys accepted it and went for it," stated Coach Petterson.   "We were tied on the first two criteria in the tie breaker and they outscored us 24-22 on total points.  If we would have been tied there we would have won on near falls, but I think it's safe to say that we out wrestled them tonight."  Next action for the Panthers will be at the Joe Parisi Open hosted by Lindenwood U. on Saturday, November 21 in St. Louis, MO.
