CHANUTE, Kan. – The Neosho Panthers were dominant in a 39-9 win over No. 16 Colby Community College at Stache Out 2015. The Trojans spotted the Panthers 24 points because they were open at four weight classes while the Panthers were open at 285. Neosho posted a 4-1 record in the 5 matches wrestled and outscored the Trojans 15-3 on the mat.

Wrestling for the first time in a Panther uniform
Johnathan Johnson started the match off with a 7-5 win. Johnson trailed early in the match but put together a strong third period to earn the win.

After a forfeit by Colby at 133 pounds
Alex Shea earned a big win for the Panthers. Â Shea was trailing Colby's Byron Vaughn midway through the second period when he capitalized on a mistake by Vaughn to pick up the win by fall. The pin tied him with
Ryne Cokeley for the team lead with 5 on the season.

Bryce Hood controlled his match from the opening whistle and earned a 10-4 win to give the Panthers an 18-0 lead.

Ryne Cokeley kept the momentum going at 157 pounds and got off to a quick start again with another take down in the opening seconds. He too controlled his match throughout and picked up his team leading 13th win while improving to 9-4 in dual matches.

After back to back forfeits by the Trojans at 165 and 174 pounds
Samuel Reyes and Colby's Rakim Dean wrestled one of the most exciting matches of the day. Dean lead for most of the match but Reyes continued to keep it close. Dean would hold Reyes' late charge to give Colby their first win 7-5 in the final match of the day.

The two teams would trade forfeits in the final two weight classes to give the Panthers a 39-9 win.

Neosho will be right back on the mat Sunday when they wrestle at the 2015 Kansas Cup hosted by Baker University.Â
