First half run too much for Panthers to overcome

Box Score CHANUTE, Kan. – Ashley Grant recorded her fourth double-double of the season but it would not be enough as the Panthers fell to Coffeyville 78-63.

Grant came out on fire for the Panthers scoring their first 13 points. Her basket with 15:03 left in the first gave Neosho a 13-11 lead.

Coffeyville would come to life after that, and went on a 19-2 run over the next 10 minutes to grab control of the game. The Panthers would close the half on an 11-4 run to cut the Red Raven lead to 10 at the break.

The Panthers would cut the lead to single digits on more than one occasion in the second half, but Coffeyville would keep them at arm's length.

Grant finished with game highs for points (29) and rebounds (13). Grant finished 11-22 from the floor, but the rest of the Panthers struggled shooting just 11 of 40 for just 28% from the field.

The Panthers fall to 10-14 overall and 2-4 in Jayhawk Conference play. Their next game will be Saturday when they travel to Labette Community College at 2:00pm.
