Turnovers costly in loss at Labette

Box Score CHANUTE, Kan. – The Neosho County Panthers had a season high 30 turnovers and shot just 20% from the field as they fell 77-43 on the road to the Labette Cardinals.

Labette opened a 39-18 lead at the half using a trapping full court press and hot shooting from beyond the three point line. The Cardinals were 7 of 16 from three in the first half with Holly Ullery leading the way connecting on 5 of her 6 attempts.

The large deficit was too much for the Panthers who were held to 12 of 58 from the floor and only 15 of 31 from the free throw line for a season low 48%.

Ashley Grant was the only Panther in double figures, scoring 13 points but was held to just 2 of 10 from the floor. Madigan Gonzales grabbed a game high 10 rebounds to go with 6 points in the loss.

The Panthers fall to 10-15 overall and 2-5 in Jayhawk Conference play with the loss. They will look to snap their season long four game losing streak Wednesday (Feb. 12) when they travel to Independence Community College. The Panthers knocked off Independence to open the conference schedule 76-72 on January 15.
