Acuil Powers Panthers to Blowout Win

PARSONS, Kan. – Joseph Acuil led four Panthers in double figures set career highs for points and rebounds as Neosho closed out the first semester with a 103-67 road win over Labette Community College. The Panthers (4-9) end the first semester winners of three of their last four games with the only loss coming to No. 11 Butler.
                                                      
The Cardinals (5-7, 1-0) had no answer for the 7-0 foot Acuil who grabbed a career best 22 rebounds leading the Panthers to a 58-28 advantage on the glass. The Panthers were also dominant in the paint, finishing with 54 points compared to just 20 for Labette.
 
Acuil led all scorers with 34 points on 14-24 shooting and added 6 blocks to go with his 22 rebounds for his second 20+point and 20+ rebound performance of the year. It is the third straight game and fifth of the season that Acuil has recorded 6 or more blocks, and is the first time in school history that a Panther has finished with 30+ points, 20+ rebounds, and 5+ blocks.
 
BJ Jenkins finished with 26 points and has now scored 20+ points in six of the last 7 games. Jenkins also dished out a game high six assists giving him 9 games with 5 or more assists this season.
 
Garin Vandiver set new career highs for points and rebounds while notching the first double-double of his career. Vandiver scored 13 points including 3-3 from 3-point range while grabbing 10 rebounds.
 
Freddie McSwain rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds in just 19 minutes of action.
 
Neosho will return to the court January 2 for the Blazer New Year's Classic. They will open up at 7pm against hosted John Wood Community College at 7pm before facing Moberly Area Community College at 1pm on January 3. The next home game for the Panthers is January 10 when they host Allen Community College at 7:30pm.
