Women Finish 1-1 at Hutchinson Thanksgiving Classic

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Neosho women snapped Dodge City Community College's five game win streak to open the Atrium Thanksgiving Classic before falling to host No. 2 Hutchinson.

The Panthers (7-6) won their second straight after dropping two straight the weekend before at the Fort Scott Classic. Neosho jumped out to a 51-34 halftime lead and never looked back as they picked up the 78-64 win.

Denise Levine led five Panthers in double figures, finishing with 16 points on 5-9 from the floor and 3-6 from beyond the 3-point line. Autumn Lipscomb added 15 points including 4 3-pointers while Michaela Hinton finished with 11 and Hannah Jones and Makayla Bell each recorded 10 points in the win.

Saturday the Panthers simply had no answer for the No. 2 ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons. Hutch pressured the Panthers into 23 turnovers and held them to just 29% shooting from the floor en route to a 92-52 win for their 105th consecutive win at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

Hutchinson dominated the Panthers rebounding the basketball. The Blue Dragons grabbed 48 rebounds including 18 on the offensive end compared to just 30 total rebounds for the Panthers.

Olivia Uhrich was the only Panther to reach double digits in scoring. Uhrich finished a point shy of tying her career high with 18 points while connecting on four 3-pointers for the 3rd time this season.

The Panthers will close out their busy first semester with their final game before the break Tuesday (Dec. 2) when they host Bethel College at 5:30pm.
