CHANUTE, Kan. – Neosho survived a second half comeback and snapped their three game losing streak with a 71-64 over the University of Saint Mary.
The Panthers (5-3, 0-0 KJCCC) led by nine with just over 5 minutes to play in the first half but Saint Mary closed the half on a 10-3 run to cut the Neosho led to just two at the half.
The Spires gave Neosho trouble on the glass all night and owned a 29-21 rebounding advantage at halftime. Saint Mary also grabbed 14 offensive rebounds but Neosho was able to hold them to just 8 second chance points in the first half.
Neosho would again push the lead out in the second half, eventually leading by 11 with less than 8 minutes to play. Saint Mary again would mount a late run, this time outscoring the Panthers 15-4 to tie the game at 64 with 3 minutes to play.
The Panthers would never relinquish the lead however, as they scored the final 7 points of the game to snap their three game losing streak.
Denise Levine tied her season high with 18 points on 7-9 shooting including 4-5 from beyond the three point line. Levine also dished out a career high 8 assists in the win.
Olivia Uhrich added 16 and
Autumn Lipscomb finished with 12, both knocking down 4 3-pointers. Madigan Gonzalez tied her career high by grabbing 12 rebounds and chipped in 8 points in the win.
Neosho will head back out on the road over the weekend for the Fort Scott Classic. The Panthers will take on Cottey College Friday at 2 and Friends University JV Saturday at 4.
