CHANUTE, Kan. – For just the second time this season the Neosho (8-5-1, 4-4-1) offense was held scoreless as they fell to Barton (8-6-2, 5-4-1) 1-0.
Â
The Neosho defense was solid for most of the afternoon with the only blemish coming in the 10
th minute when Millie York placed a free kick just out of
Raysha Claibourn's reach to give Barton a 1-0 lead. Claibourn stopped seven of the 8 shots she faced but took the loss to drop her record to 5-4-1 on the season.
Â
The Neosho offense was only able to attempt seven shots against the stout Cougar defense, 3 of which were on goal. The shutout is just the second on the year for the Panthers and the first since a 6-0 loss at Johnson County September 17.
Â
The Panthers have just two games remaining in the regular season as they vie for a playoff spot. They will travel to rival Allen Community College (11-3-2, 5-2-2) Wednesday afternoon before wrapping up the season a week from Wednesday at Hutchinson.Â
