Early lead not enough as Panthers fall to Cavaliers.

Box Score

Facing one of the top scoring teams in the nation, the Neosho County Panthers knew they would have their hands full on Friday night against the Johnson County Cavaliers. Neosho would score first but the high scoring Cavaliers proved to be too much for the Panthers.

For the first 15 minutes of the match, the two teams seemed to be feeling each other out. It was the Panthers that would strike first when Haley Kinzey broke free for the game's first goal with 30 minutes to go in the first.

Johnson would answer back with a goal of their own with 20:50 left in the half to tie the game up. The Panthers would regroup but Johnson would take the lead when they scored with 8:33 left in the half. The Cavaliers would add another goal late in the half to take a 3-1 lead.

The Panthers defense was outstanding in the second half as they kept the high scoring offense from finding the net again. Unfortunately for the Panthers however, the Cavaliers defense would prove just as stingy and they held on for 3-1 win.

The Panthers fall to 2-7-1 on the year with the loss. They will travel to Great Bend to take on the Barton Cougars Sunday. Kick off for the match will be at 2:00 pm.
