Box Score Ashley Grants basket with under 30 seconds tied the ballgame at 84 to cap a comeback that saw the Panthers trail by 17 points in the first half. Dodge City would hold off the Panthers however as a made free throw with 7 seconds left gave them an 85-84 lead.
Dena English's shot at the buzzer wouldn't fall and Neosho County ends the first semester with an 8-10 record.

"I take responsibility for that loss," commented head coach
JJ Davis. "Anytime you lose a game by one point, that comes down to coaching and I didn't get it done tonight. Dena got a good look at the end and that's all you can ask for. She will get that chance again at some point this season, and I know she will make it to win a game for us. Credit the girls for the way they fought back though. It has been a long week with some long road trips, but they continued to fight."
Â
Ashley Grant scored a game high 26 points in the losing effort along with six rebounds and a pair of assists.
Danel Stithem added 13,
Marilyn Goss had 12, and
Mackenzie Dunbar finished with 10 along with a career high 6 steals.
Â
The Panthers made a season high tying 10 three pointers while shooting a season best 40.0% from behind the line, but it was not enough to overcome 27 turnovers.
Â
After a grueling first half schedule that saw the Panthers play 18 games in a little over 6 weeks, the team will turn their attention to the classroom as they prepare for finals this week. They will be off until January 15 when they open Jayhawk Conference play at home against Independence Community College.
