Box Score Hosting the #2 team in the country Saturday (Jan. 26) evening, the Panthers needed to break out of the offensive slump they have been on. The Johnson County Cavaliers had other plans however as they held the Panthers to 28% shooting on their way to a comfortable 74-41 win.
The first 10 minutes of the game Johnson was on top but they couldn't pull away as the Panthers defense kept them in the game.
Brandae Carroll's layin with 10:17 left in the first pulled the Panthers within 1 right before the media timeout.
Any momentum that the Panthers had before the media timeout was gone after the break, however, as Johnson went on a 21-5 run over the next 7 minutes to pull away for good. The Panthers would head to the locker room at the half trailing 23-40.
The start of the second half saw the Panthers come out ice cold. Johnson County started the half on a 13-0 run over the first 7:30 to take a commanding lead with 12:30 to go. The teams would trade baskets for the rest of the game as Johnson improved to 19-1 overall and 8-1 in conference.
Neosho County falls to 7-13 on the year and3-5 in conference play with the list. The road doesn't get any easy for Neosho as they will host the 5
th ranked Highland Scotties on Wednesday (Jan 30) at 5:30.
