Box Score Alexis Hafenstein scored a season high 19 points as the Panthers improved to 7-9 overall and 3-1 in conference play with a win over rival Allen County.
After struggling on offense in their last game against Coffeyville, the Panthers came out on fire against the Red Devils. The Panthers converted on their first seven field goal attempts and jumped out to an 18-8 lead only 6 minutes into the game.
The Panthers would then go cold offensively as they would only connect on 1 of their next 10 shots. Allen would close the half on a 20-10 run as a pair of free throws from Allen's Miracle Davis with :08 seconds left in the half would tie it up for the first time since the 18:24 mark.
The second half would start much as the first did, and the Panthers would build an 11 point lead at 40-29, in the first five minutes. Allen would slowly chip away at the Panthers lead, cutting it to 5 with 13 minutes to play before Neosho pulled away for good.
Hafenstein led the Panthers in scoring with 19 points including 4-7 from three to go with four assists.
Katie Gorman joined Hafenstein in double figures as she finished with 10 on the night. DaNara day scored 19 to lead Allen County, and Miracle Davis added 16 in the loss.
The Panthers are currently tied for 3
rd in the Jayhawk East standings. The two teams ahead of them in the conference standings are NJCAA Division II teams #1 Highland and #3 Johnson County which leaves them in a three way tie for first in the Region VI standings. The Panthers will be back in action Saturday (Jan. 19) when they host the Labette Cardinals at 5:30pm.
