Karen Ordonez Big Night Powers Panthers Past Larks

Karen Ordonez finished the night with seven points with a pair of goals and an assist.
The Neosho County women's soccer team finished up the regular season with a 4-0 win over Hesston College Wednesday (Oct. 17) evening. The Panthers finish the regular season 10-6-1 and 7-6-0 in conference play.
 
Zana Bryan got the Panthers on the board first with her first career goal. Bryan bombed one in from 35 yards out with 27:17 left in the first.
 
The Panthers would waste no time adding to their lead as they would make the score 2-0 less than a minute later. Caitlin Daily found Karen Ordonez open on the right side for the goal.
 
Ordonez would factor in again with 7:37 left in the first half when Diana Ramirez scored off her corner kick to make the score 3-0.
 
Neosho County wouldn't find the net again until 20:25 left in the second half when Ordonez continued her great play as she scored on a breakaway to extend the Panthers lead to 4-0.
 
Sophomore Haylee Merrill in her final regular season start as a Panther was great in goal as she recorded her eighth shutout of the season.
 
“I was proud of the way our girls played tonight,” said Coach Solomon. “This game made no difference in our region standings so it would have been an easy one to let get away from us. We came out and attacked early and played a very good game.”
 
The Panthers end the season in sixth place in the Region VI standings. Their next action will be Monday (Oct. 22) when the play the third seeded Barton Community College Cougars. Kickoff for the match in Great Bend, Kansas is scheduled for 3:00pm. Fans that are not able to make it to the game can watch online by clicking here.
