The Cowley Tigers ended a stretch of over 300 minutes of action without allowing a goal to down the Neosho County Friday night.
Neosho County and Cowley would play to a scoreless tie after 45:00 minutes. That ran that Panthers streak of scoreless halves to six spanning four games.
Cowley would end the scoreless streak in the 65
th minute when the snuck one past a diving
Haylee Merrill to take a 1-0 lead. It would be the first goal allowed by the Panthers since an early first half goal against Independence on October 3.
The Panthers best chance to tie the game up would come with 6:30 to play when they would have a free kick from just outside the box. Cowley would defend the play well, however, and hold on for the 1-0 win.
The loss drops the Panthers to 8-6-1 while they finish with a 7-6 record in Jayhawk Conference play. They will be back in action Sunday night when they host Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm at the Chanute Sports Complex.
