Panthers tied Nationally Ranked Johnson County

The Neosho County Community women's Soccer team tied Johnson County, ranked No. 13 in the nation in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of American polls, 1-1 in a double overtime at Chanute Community Sports Complex.   The Panthers now are 3-4-2 in Region VI and 6-6-2 overall.  The Cavaliers, who finished last season with an 16-3 overall record and were ranked No. 5 in the nation in the final poll, are 10-3-3.       
“This was a great team effort,”  Neosho Head Coach Damon Solomon said.  “ Our players certainly deserved to get this tie.  They played very well together and worked really hard for this point.”
 
Mercedes McGuire got the only goal for the Panthers in the first ten minutes. The assist come from Kim Utley's left foot, which gives Utley her fourth assist of the season.  Johnson County came back with a goal in the late part of the second half.  Both teams went through two overtimes to come out with a draw in the match.
 
Next match is  at 5pm on Wednesday at Dodge City (Dodge City High School Complex).
